British/Chinese Cooking Competition to Celebrate 20th Anniversary
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Bristol’s sister city partnership with Guangzhou in 2021, the China Bureau has launched a local Cooking Competition for residents in the West of England (Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Wiltshire).
Example: Stir Fried Chicken, Pineapple & Cashew Nuts with Chips
A love for food and cookery starts at home. All you have to do is create a new unique recipe/dish, which must combine British and Chinese ingredient(s), that will entice others to eat and enjoy.
Example: Cumberland Sausage Dumplings
With British and Chinese cuisine enjoyed by so many this offers the chance for all those cooks amongst us to produce that signature recipe/dish. Use your imagination, while remembering the great culinary traditions between our two countries.
Entries are to be submitted online, and will be assessed by a team of esteemed judges based upon the appearance, creativity, cultural tie and “wow” factor.
Three shortlisted finalists will be invited to prepare, cook and serve their recipe/dish for a panel of judges at a cook off final. The event offers competitors the chance to win some great prizes (money £200/food hampers/wines).
For the overall winner their recipe/dish will be placed on the menu of a local restaurant at a future China Bureau event, with a donation made to charity for every dish served.
