Strengthening Ties with China: A Successful Visit by the Jurong City Delegation
On 12th November, the Bristol and West of England China Bureau was delighted to facilitate an engaging and impactful visit for the delegation from Jurong City, Jiangsu Province, to the University of the West of England’s Future Space. The visit, facilitated by Yang Ding, Director of the Bureau, brought together Mr. Xu Junchao, Executive Deputy Mayor of Jurong, the delegation met with UWE Future Space Director Prof. Matt Freeman and a group of industry experts, focusing on cutting-edge discussions in energy storage, general aviation, and sustainable heating solutions.
The day began with a tour of Future Space’s innovative facilities, showcasing the advancements in technology and enterprise in the South West. Over lunch, delegates and hosts had the chance to deepen connections in an informal setting, setting the stage for more structured discussions in the afternoon.
The meeting yielded promising outcomes: Jurong City extended an invitation to the Future Space management team and its resident companies to visit Jurong. This proposed visit will foster further cooperation, offering Future Space an invaluable opportunity to explore business and research synergies within one of China’s rapidly growing industrial hubs. It’s an exciting step forward that could open doors to new ventures and strengthen ties between the two regions.
